Behind  massive, deserted industrial buildings from the nineteenth century, high above the Ware River in Ware Massachusetts lie monsters from another time. Rusted cast iron pieces of Ware's past, settle slowly into the earth.

Big and amputated from the whole being, they are threatening and out of place.

They suggest blood, sweat and endless toil. Shrieking steam and dripping oil.

In the weak November light they merge with the grey around them.

The crane that dropped them on their resting site shares in their decomposition.

Controls worn smooth from use.

These photographs were taken with a homemade pinhole camera on Kodak Tri-x roll film.
