The Guns of Quabbin

Quabbin is a quiet place. A place of solitude. But there was a time when the ground shook under the impact of artillery shells and the guns that hurled them.

Gate 52 is near the southern end of Quabbin. It's like most Quabbin gates except for the remains of  artillery and related structures that are found there.

As Quabbin filled and war brewed in Europe, big guns were tested by firing shells into the rising water and surrounding hills. The guns are silent now.
