Rivoli Theatre - Chicopee, Massachusetts |
The neighborhood theatres are mostly gone today. Victims of the Mega-Plex theatre concept. You know the places. Acres of paved earth packed with cars. Inside they all look the same. You have your choice of ten movies and herds of people crowd each room. No one throws a Milk-Dud at the screen. |

Note the bird nest on top of the ticket booth. |

How many, sir ? |

I used to walk to the movies when I was a kid. It cost a quarter to see a movie in the afternoon. My favorites were horror movies. No one walks to the movies anymore and a horror movie will set you back about eight bucks. |

The little shelf on the outside of the ticket booth at The Rivoli is worn into a little bowl. Shaped by thousands and thousands of eager fingers scooping up tickets. |
