The Start (Karl Pouva) was made from 1951 until 1959. This particular Start is somewhat unusual as it's a hybrid between the first Start and the second.
The first Start  had a folding viewfinder and the second featured the viewfinder shown above but with a different faceplate and an unnamed lens.
I'm sure there's a rabid Pouva Start collector out there that'd trade his late model Mercedes for this particular camera. Well, you know where to find me Fritz.

This Start has the renowned Duplar f8. The camera can handle Zeit, Moment, Sonne or Trub with aplomb. There's a shutter-lock lever for Zeit nuts.

The telescoping lens mount resets the shutter and allows the camera to neatly fit into the pocket of your regenmantel.

It's a solid little camera that makes 6x6 exposures on 120 film.
