CONTAX IIIA - ZEISS IKON 1950-1961
JUPITER 8M - KIEV c 1974
The Contax line of rangefinders are all classics. Beautifully
engineered, crafted and finished. I've wanted one for years and this
one was worth the wait.
The light meter actually functions on this IIIA but I have no use for
such complications.
The rangefinder is bright and accurate. The shutter is quiet.
The Jupiter 8 can be an awful lens. I've used a few that rivaled those
on a Diana.
They can be very good too. This 1974 model is very good, I think.
By the way. The above photo was taken with another Kiev lens. The 85mm
F2 adapted to my Nikon D50.
No bumps !
The "A" preceding the numbers indicates that this IIIA was made between
April of 1953 and October 1953. That would make it about fifty eight
years old.

A particularly hard winter robbed this flamingo of its once graceful
